Criteria used to evaluate the Willingness To Partner include:
1. EAGERNESS
a. The family took initiative to obtain an application and fill it completely. b. The family provided necessary documentation and consented to obtaining references from neighbors, associates, employers, creditors, and landlords. c. The family attends Habitat for Humanity functions. d. The family has expressed a desire to make the Greater Peoria Area their permanent home and has lived in the Greater Peoria Area for at least 6 months. e. Personal qualities – treatment and care of current house and personal property; crisis coping skills; and ability to persevere in maintaining the house after occupancy. f. The family understands and is eager to perform a minimum of 350 hours of sweat equity. (The number of sweat equity hours is subject to board modification and approval). g. The family understands the importance of being a responsible neighbor and member of the community and will represent Habitat in a way that shows appreciation and respect to the volunteers who help build their house.
2. REALIZATION
a. Willingness and feasibility of performing the 350 hours of sweat equity work per family on Habitat projects prior to moving into their home. b. Willingness to participate in Habitat publicity – be a positive example of a Habitat partner; be a spokesperson for the partnership philosophy of Habitat; willingness to be interviewed for TV/newspapers; and willingness to participate in Habitat functions such as walks, ground breaking ceremonies, house blessings/dedications and fund raising activities. c. The family realizes that they must make monthly house payments without default. d. The family understands the expectations of the participation agreement and that Habitat needs them as active partners.
