Habitat for Humanity Greater Peoria uses all donations directly for construction of new houses. Donations and sponsorships provide the money needed to build each of our houses. Mortgage payments and revenue from our ReStore sales also support the Habitat program. Here are some important points to remember about the Habitat program:

Habitat participants buy their house; it is not given to them;

Habitat participants must have jobs or steady income to qualify for the program;

Habitat families invest 350 to 500 “sweat equity” hours into building their home, the homes of others and by helping in Habitat’s ReStore.

Habitat families attend workshops about finances, credit, insurance, wills, home maintenance and landscaping;

Habitat has built 89 homes locally and will finish two homes and start 5 more in 2012.
